Police release name of cyclist killed in Chatham crash

Chatham-Kent police have identified the Chatham man who died after a crash on Grand Avenue East earlier this week.

Police said 38-year-old James Paul Day suffered life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a transport truck while he was cycling in Chatham late Sunday night.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is still under investigation and police are still asking any witnesses or anyone with information to contact Constable Randy Whittaker at randyw@chatham-kent.ca or 519-355-1092.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
