Woman Charged with Assault  

A domestic disturbance has led to charges against a 32-year-old Chatham woman.

Police received information about the incident on Sunday. Through investigation, police learned that the woman allegedly assaulted her common-law husband over the weekend.

The arrest was made Tuesday afternoon.

She was transported to the Courthouse and is awaiting a bail hearing.

Motor Vehicle Collision in Chatham 

Damages are estimated at $18,000 after a motorcycle collided with a van on Tuesday night.

The crash happened during the nightly commute, just before 6 p.m. That's when emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Riverview Drive near Keil Drive.

The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital as a precaution.

The driver of the van, an 84-year-old Chatham man, was charged with an offence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Theft charges after dollar store robbery

A Wallaceburg woman will appear in court on August 20 after allegedly shoplifting from a dollar store in Blenheim.

Police said the incident occurred earlier this month at the Dollar Haven.

Through investigation, police identified a 29-year-old woman as the person responsible.

On Tuesday night, police arrested the woman and formally charged her with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

She was later released from custody with conditions and a future court date.

Update: Stolen Truck Recovered in Chatham

Police have found a beige 2002 GMC Pickup that was reported stolen over the weekend.

It was recovered shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday morning when an officer on general patrol saw the stolen truck parked on Raleigh Street.

The truck was towed from the roadway and the registered owner was notified.

Update: Stolen Truck Recovered on Walpole Island 

A pick-up truck belonging to Anderson Web and Mechanical Contractors has been found.

The 2010 GMC Sierra pick-up truck went missing late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. Early Tuesday morning, however, the stolen truck was recovered on Walpole Island.

The vehicle was towed and the registered owner was notified.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
