Barricaded person on Walpole Island arrested

A six-hour standoff with a barricaded person ended without incident on Walpole Island on Tuesday.

The OPP, Walpole Island First Nations Police, and the West Region emergency response, tactics and rescue, and canine units responded at about 7 a.m. to a residence on Brother Road.

Police said a suspect was arrested without incident after about six hours.

The person was being held in custody pending a bail hearing in Sarnia court at a later date.

Police said there is no risk to public safety and further information will be provided when it becomes available.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
