Police execute drug warrant in Chatham

A pair of Chatham residents are facing multiple charges after police seized $2,000 worth of drugs from a residence on Saturday afternoon.

Around 4 p.m. Chatham-Kent Police, along with members of their Community Patrol Branch and Critical Incident Response Team, conducted the warrant on Florence Street in Chatham.

According to police, officers located quantities of various drugs including suspected fentanyl, heroin, hydromorphone, methamphetamine and other prescription medication, valued at around $2,000. Police also seized Canadian currency along with digital scales and packaging materials.

As a result, a 28-year-old Chatham man and 36-year-old Chatham woman were arrested and charged with possession of fentanyl for the purposes of trafficking, possession of heroin for the purpose of trafficking, possession of hydromorphone for the purposes of trafficking and possession of methamphetamine for the purposes of trafficking. These charges have not been proven in court.

Both were transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and released with a future court date.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
