Huron County manure spreading complaint still under investigation

Staff from the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks will visit the scene after residents of Turnberry Estates complained about improper manure spreading.

Ministry Spokesperson Gary Wheeler said the ministry’s Spills Action Centre received a complaint about an odour related to manure spreading near Currie Line and Highway 86 on Saturday.

He said staff reached out to the party involved and explained best management practices for manure spreading. Wheeler added that based on information provided by the resident it appears that overspreading did not occur.

However, ministry staff will be back at the site in the next couple of days to verify that manure spreading occurred in compliance with the regulations.
