UPDATE: All lanes of Highway 401 reopened after crash

Police have reopened the east and westbound lanes of Highway 401 in the St. Thomas area following a collision.

The eastbound lanes of the highway were closed shortly before 5 p.m. on Friday after a collision involving a tractor trailer in the eastbound lanes at Union Road in a construction zone. The westbound lanes were then closed shortly before 8 p.m. and reopened after about an hour. All lanes were reopened at around 9:20 p.m.

The highway was reportedly heavily backed up during the closure and traffic was being detoured off the 401 at Iona Road.

Drivers heading eastbound toward London on Highway 401 were also detoured Friday morning in the same area, due to a previous a collision involving two tractor trailers.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
