Maroons hammer Legionnaires 5-1

The Chatham Maroons defeated the Sarnia Legionnaires 5-1 in GOJHL action on Thursday.

Sarnia kicked off the game by scoring the only goal of the first period, but Adrian Stubberfield, Griffin Robinson and Brett Fisher scored back-to-back goals in the second to give Chatham a 3-1 lead heading into the third.

Dallas Anderson added another for Chatham 7:50 into the final frame and Blake Boudreau scored with just over seven minutes left in the game to give the Maroons a four-goal advantage.

Maroon goaltender Tiago Rocha made 26 saves out of 27 shots on net.

"We had a lot of momentum but letting in that one [goal], I knew that killed some," said Rocha. "After the first period was over, I got my head back into the game and came out with a big second and third."

The Maroons head to Windsor on Saturday to take on the LaSalle Vipers at the WFCU Center at 2:30 p.m.
