Maroons fall to Rockets 4-3

The Chatham Maroons were defeated by the Strathroy Rockets 4-3 in double overtime in GOJHL action on Sunday.

Strathroy kicked off the game with a goal just 0:22 into the first period shot by Brendan Muirs.

Griffin Robinson scored at 18:02 into the second period for the Maroons tying up the game.

Chatham's Brett Fisher scored a powerplay goal at 3:41 into the third period. Brendan Mairs and Blake Hull scored back-to-back for Strathroy.  Fisher answered back with a goal at 13:19 tying up the game once again.

Neither team managed to score in the first overtime. Mairs attempted an unsuccessful penalty shot during the second overtime period that was quickly made up for when Jordan D'Intino scored at 4:04 giving the win to Strathroy.

Chatham goaltender Tiago Rocha made 43 saves out of 47 shots on net.

The Maroons will face off against the St. Thomas Stars on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
