Chatham stabbing suspect arrested

A Chatham woman has been charged with stabbing a man she knew.

Chatham-Kent police said she is accused of stabbing a 45-year-old Chatham man during a disturbance on Riverview Drive in Chatham around 6 a.m. on Tuesday.

The victim was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention and was later transferred to a hospital in Windsor.

A 47-year-old Chatham woman, who has not been named by police, has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

"Police believe this was not a random act of violence as the man and [the] woman are known to each other," added police.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
