Moraviantown house fire causes $150K in damage

Damage is estimated to be around $150,000 after a house fire in Moraviantown Friday night.

According to Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services, it happened around 8:15 p.m. at 22459 Centre Road.

When fire crews arrived, they were met with smoke and flames coming from the back of the half-storey house. Firefighters were able to quickly control a majority of the fire but stayed on the scene for an extended period of time to extinguish the fire within the roof.

Everyone inside the house was able to get out before the fire department arrived and there were no injuries.

The cause is undetermined at this time.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
