Two people nabbed for drunk driving

CK police were able to catch two people driving under the influence this weekend.

First, police responded to reports of someone failing to remain at the scene of a collision on Spurgeon Road in Chatham around 8 p.m. Saturday night.

Officers were able to locate the driver and believed that she was under the influence of alcohol.

The 27-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and taken to the police station for a breathalyzer. She has been charged with having blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit and released pending a future court date.

A few hours later around 1 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a possible impaired driving complaint on Park Avenue West in Chatham.

Police believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested. He was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

The 20-year-old Chatham man has been charged with having blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit and is being held in police custody until sober.

Man arrested on outstanding warrant

Saturday afternoon a man who had an outstanding warrant for assault and mischief turned himself in at the Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters.

The 34-year-old was arrested and later released with a future court date.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
