Frost advisory in effect for Southwestern Ontario

The first taste of chilly weather is on its way Monday night for much of Southwestern Ontario.

Environment Canada has issued a frost advisory for Chatham-Kent, Windsor-Essex, London-Middlesex, Sarnia-Lambton, Norfolk, Elgin and Oxford County.

The weather agency is forecasting that lows will hover around the freezing mark Monday night and is warning that the anticipated chill may damage crops in frost-prone areas.

"Cover up plants, especially those in frost-prone areas," Environment Canada said in its advisory. "Take preventative measures to protect frost-sensitive plants and trees."

Temperatures are expected to climb back up by Tuesday with highs forecasted in the mid-teens.
