MPs will be back in Parliament on December 5.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made the announcement before meeting with opposition leader Andrew Scheer on Tuesday morning.
Trudeau was re-elected with a minority government on October 21. He will have to work with MPs from the opposition parties in order to get legislation passed in the House of Commons.
During the meeting, Scheer set out a number of priorities he'd like to see in the upcoming speech from the throne. They include the establishment of a national energy corridor, tax relief initiatives and introducing stronger penalties in the Conflict of Interest Act.
“In our meeting today, I told Mr. Trudeau that Canada is as divided as it ever has been,” Scheer said. “The steps I outlined in my meeting with him today are reasonable, achievable, and would begin to heal the divisions Trudeau sowed during the election campaign.”
The press secretary with the Prime Ministers Office confirmed Trudeau will swear in the Liberal cabinet on November 20. The House will sit until December 13 when MPs will break for Christmas.
