Pedestrian dies after collision

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian.

Police said a 59-year-old man who entered the road was hit by a vehicle going westbound on Grand Avenue West between Campus Parkway and Fergie Jenkins Parkway around 8:30 a.m on Tuesday. The victim was taken to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance where he was pronounced dead.

The victim's name has not been released by police.

A section of Grand Avenue West was closed for several hours for the investigation but it reopened to traffic around 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
