UPDATE: Rochester Townline reopened after crash

A Tilbury man has been seriously injured in a crash that shut down an Essex County road.

OPP Constable Jim Root said the crash happened at around 6:30 a.m. Monday on Rochester Townline Road between Lakeshore Road 303 and County Road 42. A vehicle travelling southbound on Rochester Townline Road somehow went off the road and struck a utility pole. The collision blocked the roadway.

The 66-year-old driver from Tilbury, the only occupant of the vehicle, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

Rochester Townline Road was closed in the area for several hours before being reopened to traffic at around 5 p.m.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
