Sasseville commits to USC

Chatham's Genevieve Sasseville will be training in warmer climates in the near future.

The swimmer verbally committed to attend and compete for the University of Southern California (USC) in 2021.

"I'm extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Southern California!" said Sasseville. "I can't wait to continue my swimming and academic journey as part of the Trojan family! I want to thank my family, friends, and coaches — I couldn't have done this without you! Can't wait to swim under the sunshine! #fighton"

Sasseville currently trains out of Toronto with the Ontario Swim Academy, but credits local coaches Kyle Pinsonnault, Dave Desmarais, and Reg Johnson for being instrumental early in her swimming career.

She was also recently selected to train and compete in Japan December 16-23 with the Team Ontario Tour Team.

Sasseville is a World Juniors medalist, Canadian Senior Nationals medalist, Canadian Junior National swimming champion and Ontario Provincial champion, specializing in the butterfly and freestyle events.
