Local agriculture leaders to be honoured

The Rural Urban Dinner will take place in Chatham on Wednesday, November 27.

The 73rd annual event is hosted by the Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce and honours leaders in the local agriculture industry.

The Agriculturist of the Year is Reinout von Martels, the owner of Von Martels Seed Farms. The Business Agriculture Innovator of the Year is Jennen Strawberry Farm, the Individual Agriculture Innovator of the Year is Blake Vince, Margaret Nauta will receive the Friend of Agriculture honour, and the 4H Member of the Year is Matthew Sterling.

The event is taking place at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the dinner and presentations get underway at 7 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
