Crash on 401 claims one life

A Windsor woman has died after an early morning collision on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.

According to provincial police, emergency crews responded to a single motor vehicle collision around 1 a.m. Sunday. The vehicle was travelling westbound on the 401 near Orford Road when it left the road and came to rest in a treeline on the north side of the highway.

The driver, a 37-year-old from Windsor, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other occupants were in the vehicle at the time of the collision.

The westbound lanes of Highway 401 were closed for approximately seven hours as OPP investigated. The highway has since reopened.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
