Orders issued against Chatham greenhouse after horrific accident

A Chatham greenhouse operation has been slapped with six orders from the Ministry of Labour following a serious workplace accident.

The victim, 20-year-old Natasha Smids, was airlifted to a London hospital with what police said were life-threatening injuries.

The industrial accident happened at Truly Green Farms at 162 Bloomfield Rd. just before 1 p.m. on Monday.

The last update from the London Health Sciences Centre Tuesday afternoon said Smids is in critical condition.

Ministry spokesperson Janet Deline said information on the orders issued against Truly Green Farms isn’t available due to the ongoing investigation.

"On January 6, 2020, a ministry inspector attended the workplace to investigate. Six orders were issued to the employer," she said.
