Heavy rain causes flooding across Southwestern Ontario

As the rain continues to hammer Southwestern Ontario, many areas are experiencing localized flooding.

Ontario Warning issued a statement via Twitter saying, "heavy precipitation and snowmelt in Southern Ontario has caused localized flooding in low-lying areas, ice jams in streams and rivers, and water pooling on roads."

Residents are warned to stay away from those areas and to follow instructions from local authorities.

According to Environment Canada, 40 - 66 mm of rain is expected to fall Saturday evening with the total amount reaching 75 mm. Isolated thunderstorms are also possible Saturday evening.

The rain may change into snow over Saturday night. Brief periods of freezing rain or freezing drizzle are possible overnight before the rain ends.

There will be relief as the heavy rain is expected to end later Saturday night.
