Flyers edge Maroons 3-2 in OT

The Chatham Maroons were defeated by the Leamington Flyers 3-2 in overtime on Sunday.

Both teams failed to score in the first period.

AJ Ryan was first to score for the Maroons 5:59 into the second period. Leamington's Zach Taylor answered back with a goal 10:04 into the frame. Chatham's Kyle Fisher scored and Leamington's Josh King responded 11:59 putting the game at a tie.

Nicholas Beneteau scored 3:31 into overtime giving the win to the Flyers.

Maroons goalie Kevin Linker saved 48 out of 51 shots on net.

The Maroons will face-off against the London Nationals at the Western Fair Sports Centre. Puck drops at 7 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
