Maroons double Stars 6-3

The Chatham Maroons topped the St. Thomas Stars 6-3 at the Joe Thornton Community Centre on Friday.

Dallas Anderson and Zach Power scored for Chatham in the first 14 minutes of the game to take the lead, but the Stars added one of their own in the final seconds of the first period.  St. Thomas tied things up at 2-2 after scoring 5:50 into the second, but Evan Wells scored for Chatham just shy of a minute later to inch ahead of the Stars.

St. Thomas scored early in the third to tie the game once more, but Dallas Maurovic, AJ Ryan and Kyle Fisher responded by scoring back-to-back goals to retake the lead and earn the win for the Maroons.

Maroons goaltender Bryce Walcarius made 41 saves out of 38 shots on net.

The Maroons return home on Sunday to face off against the LaSalle Vipers at 2:30 p.m.
