Chiefs top 49ers in Super Bowl LIV

The Kansas City Chiefs scored 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to defeat the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 in Super Bowl LIV from Miami Sunday night.

The two teams were tied 10-10 at halftime before San Francisco scored 10 straight points to take a 20-10 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The Chiefs would go on to score three straight touchdowns in final six minutes and 10 seconds, including the winning score, a five-yard touchdown pass from Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes to Damien Williams, with 2:50 remaining.

Mahomes, 24, was named Super Bowl MVP -- the Texas native threw for 286 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, completing 26 of 42 passes.

The 54th installment of the NFL's championship game saw the Cheifs win their second Super Bowl title and first since 1969.

The 49ers have now lost two straight Super Bowls after winning five straight championship appearances between 1981 and 1994.
