Maroons fall 5-4 to Legionnaires in double OT

The Chatham Maroons dropped a 5-4 decision to the Sarnia Legionnaires in double overtime on Thursday.

Sarnia was first on the board by scoring 6:28 into the first period, but Carson Noble and Brett Fisher both scored for Chatham to take a 2-1 lead heading into the second.

Fisher scored his second of the night 19 seconds into the second, but the Legionnaires added two more goals of their own to tie the game 3-3 with just under four minutes left in the period.  Fisher in the final seconds of the frame to complete a hat-trick and give Chatham the lead.

The Legionnaires scored the only goal of the third 5:28 into the period to tie things up and force OT. After no goals in overtime, Sarnia scored 21 seconds into double OT to earn the win.

Chatham goaltender Bryce Walcarius made 21 saves out of 26 shots on net.

The Maroons are on the road again on Saturday to battle the Strathroy Rockets. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
