It happened shortly after 10 a.m. on Timmins Crescent. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from one of the four units.
Everyone inside was able to escape uninjured. The fire is currently under investigation.
SPS Board Chair Kelly Ash said the decision followed discussions with Acting Chief Mike Federico and aligns with practices at other police services.
