Maroons hammered 8-3 by Flyers

The Chatham Maroons suffered an 8-3 thrashing at the hands of the Leamington Flyers on Thursday.

The Flyers were off to a hot start by scoring three back-to-back goals to take a 3-0 lead heading into the second.

Zach Power scored Chatham's first goal of the game 1:22 into the second, but Leamington continued to extend their lead by scoring four more goals before the end of the frame. Evan Wells scored for Chatham with just over five minutes left in the game and Blake Boudreau added another for the Maroons a minute later, but it wasn't enough to mount a comeback.

The Flyers also outshot the Maroons 41-32.

The Maroons play their final two regular-season games this weekend. First, the Chatham team is headed to London on Saturday to face off against the Nationals at 7 p.m., before they return home on Sunday to take on the St. Marys Lincolns at 7 p.m.
