Lightning strike back, stop Express 125-121

A.J. Gaines scored 30 points off the bench as the London Lightning beat the Express 125-121 in Windsor Wednesday afternoon.

London was down by 14 points at the end of the third quarter, but stormed back in the fourth, outscoring Windsor 38-20. A pair of free throws by Garrett Williamson with a few seconds left in the game sealed the deal for London.

The Lightning improve to 13-7 on the season with the win in a rare 11 a.m. weekday tipoff at the WFCU Centre. The Express drop to 9-10.

Among London starters, Cameron Foote led on offence with 25 points. Randy Phillips and Marcus Capers each sank 16 points. Xavier Moon was the defensive leader for the Lightning with ten rebounds, all on defence.

Quinnel Brown led the Windsor offence with 27 points. Chris Jones followed with 20 points and led with eight assists. On defence, Kemy Osse led with eight boards and put through 17 points of his own.

The next game for both teams is a rematch Saturday night at Budweiser Gardens. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
