Possible failure of Erie Shore Dr. dike prompts meeting

Residents who live in Erieau and along Erie Shore Drive are "urged" to attend an emergency council meeting on Friday.

Chatham-Kent Council will hold the meeting to discuss the "elevated possibility of failure" of a section the Erie Shore Drive dike. The municipality announced that they received information about Erie Shore Drive on Thursday.

Details on what exactly will be discussed have not been released but municipal officials said additional information will be given at the meeting.

Residents along Erie Shore Drive who are unable to shelter in place and need emergency accommodations are encouraged to contact the Chatham-Kent Homeless Response Line at 519-354-6628.

Friday's meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. at Council Chambers in the Chatham-Kent Civic Centre on King Street West in Chatham.

Those who are unable to attend the meeting in person will be able to watch online on the Municipal Facebook page.
