Bruce County retirement homes report COVID-19 outbreak

Two staff members at Brucelea Haven in Walkerton have tested positive for COVID-19.

Media coordinator for the Grey Bruce Health Unit, Drew Ferguson, said all outbreak protocols are in place, and testing is currently underway for residents. Ferguson added it has not been confirmed whether or not they are showing symptoms.

An outbreak is declared when one or more cases are confirmed in long-term care or retirement homes.

There are two other outbreaks in Grey/Bruce. Sepoy Manor retirement home in Lucknow is now reporting a COVID-19 outbreak. Mapleview in Owen Sound continues to have an outbreak as well.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit reported two new positive lab tests for the virus on Sunday, bringing the total to date to 74.

No one is currently hospitalized and 35 people have recovered.

There have been 21 cases reported in Health Care Workers working in Grey Bruce.
