Missing man case ends in tragedy

The search for an elderly man who went missing near Bothwell has come to a tragic end.

Chatham-Kent police released a note Tuesday morning notifying the public that "it is with great sadness that we advise that Mr. [Daniel] Denby was located deceased [Monday] near a property on Selton Line in Bothwell."

The local police force also issued a thank you to members of the community for their efforts over the past week to find Mr. Denby.

A post-mortem was scheduled to take place in London on Tuesday, but police said, "the circumstances surrounding his death do not appear suspicious at this time."

Before Monday's tragic discovery, Mr. Denby was last seen walking on Austin Line just outside of Bothwell on the evening of April 27, 2020.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
