COVID-19 cases reach 200, the death toll up to 17

The number of COVID-19 cases in Sarnia-Lambton reached 200 Saturday, and another death has been recorded.

Lambton Public Health reported on its website Saturday night that the death toll had reached 17.

The latest death is linked to an outbreak at Vision Nursing Home in Sarnia, where eight residents and two staff members have now tested positive for the virus. It's the third COVID-19 related death at the long-term care home this week.

The health unit has received results from 4,131 tests, of which 95 per cent have been negative. To date, 136 people have recovered from the virus.

Sunday morning, Bluewater Health reported there are seven people in hospital confirmed to have the virus, and 11 patients are suspected of having it with tests pending.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
