7kg of pot seized during Hwy. 401 traffic stop

Two men from Windsor are facing drug-related charges after Chatham-Kent OPP made a big discovery when they stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway 401.

Provincial police said a vehicle was stopped along the highway near Orford Road around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday. A 21-year-old man who was behind the wheel at the time is accused of driving faster than 150 kilometres per hour on the highway.

During a search, officers seized seven kilograms of cannabis.

The 21-year-old was charged with speeding, possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling, and possession of over 30 grams of dried cannabis in a public place. A 22-year-old man was also charged with possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling and possession of over 30 grams of dried cannabis in a public place.

Both men will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on August 6.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
