Local COVID-19 cases/recoveries inch higher

Four more cases of COVID-19 are linked to an outbreak at a Sarnia nursing home.

Lambton Public Health is reporting 17 residents and 16 staff members at Vision Nursing Home have tested positive for the novel coronavirus. An outbreak was declared at the Wellington Street long-term care home on April 23, 2020.

The number of confirmed cases in the community is up to 235, from 230 reported Tuesday night.  The health unit said three more people have recovered for a total of 170 and the death toll remains at 19.

To date, Lambton Public Health has received the results from 5,322 COVID-19 tests, and 96 per cent have been negative.

Bluewater Health reported Thursday that five people are in hospital with the virus, and 17 patients are suspected of having it with tests pending.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
