Another COVID-19 death at Vision Nursing Home

Five residents at Sarnia's Vision Nursing Home have now died since an outbreak of COVID-19 was declared a month ago.

Lambton Public Health reported the latest death Friday night bringing Sarnia-Lambton's total pandemic death toll to 20.

There are a total of 245 confirmed COVID cases, an increase of two cases from Thursday night, and 173 people have recovered.

At the Wellington Street nursing home, 39 people are confirmed to have the virus, 20 residents and 19 staff, since the outbreak was declared April 23.

There are two other institutional outbreaks ongoing at Sarnia's Marshall Gowland Manor and at Village on the St. Clair but additional cases have not been reported at either facility since the outbreaks were declared May 15.

Bluewater Health reported Saturday that five patients are confirmed to have the virus and eight are suspected of having it with tests pending.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
