COVID cases climb by one, drive-through testing opens

A pair of drive-through COVID-19 testing centres in Sarnia-Lambton are now open.

Bluewater Health announced Thursday that COVID-19 assessment centres in Sarnia and Petrolia would be moving from a clinic model to drive-through starting Saturday, to allow higher volumes of testing and prevent close contact with symptomatic individuals.

As of Friday night, Lambton Public Health had received 6,388 results, roughly four per cent being positive.

The Sarnia-Lambton caseload climbed by one in the latest update to 262, the number of recovered increased two to 198, and the number of deaths is unchanged at 22.

As of Saturday morning, Bluewater Health is reporting that 13 patients are currently in hospital with confirmed COVID-19, and 23 patients are suspected to have the virus with tests pending.
