COVID-19 caseload unchanged, recovered cases rise

The number of recovered COVID-19 infections in Sarnia-Lambton is up again.

In Lambton Public Health's update Monday night, six new recovered cases were reported for a total of 207, while the number of confirmed cases is unchanged since Saturday night sitting at 263.

The death toll climbed to 23 Monday, following the death of a 102-year-old man at Bluewater Health. The latest death is linked to an outbreak at Vision Nursing Home, which was declared on April 23.

To date, the health unit has received the results from 6, 890 tests, of which 96 per cent have been negative.

Bluewater Health reported Tuesday that 12 patients are in hospital confirmed to have the virus while 14 are suspected of having it with tests still pending.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
