Perth East pool and day camps cancelled

The Township of Perth East Council decided to cancel summer day camp and PERC pool operations for the 2020 season.

The motion was passed at their regular meeting of Council on June 2, 2020, to protect the health, safety, and well-being of Perth East residents and staff during the evolving pandemic.

Recreation staff is looking at alternate recreation activities as restrictions are lifted and new guidelines are established. They have also launched a ‘Virtual Recreation Programming” page offering activities that can be done at home at pertheast.ca

“This was a difficult decision to make but the number one priority is to protect the health and safety of all participants and staff,” says Mayor of the Township of Perth East, Rhonda Ehgoetz. “We understand that contact within a large camp setting or public pool is a risk and challenge to the health and safety of everyone involved,” added Ehgoetz.

The Township of Perth East continues to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic in collaboration with Huron Perth Public Health and the Province of Ontario. All information regarding COVID-19 and the Township of Perth East can be found at pertheast.ca/COVID-19.
