Rollover crash closes westbound 401 near West Lorne

One person has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a vehicle rollover on Highway 401 west of London.

A pickup truck was heading west on the highway roughly one kilometre east of Furnival Road near West Lorne when it veered into the north ditch before 2:15 a.m. on Friday. The truck hit a road sign and then rolled several times before coming to rest in the grass, Elgin OPP said.

The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was rushed to hospital with life threatening injuries.

All westbound lanes of the highway were closed between Graham Road and Furnival Road for approximately nine hours while members of the OPP technical traffic collision team investigate the cause of the collision.

The highway was reopened around 11 a.m.
