UPDATE: Two seriously injured after ATV and motorcycle collide

Two people have been hospitalized after a serious collision in Chatham-Kent involving a motorcycle and an ATV.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said on Sunday at around 6:50 p.m., both vehicles were travelling south on Charing Cross Road near Middle Line when the collision occurred. A preliminary investigation indicates that the motorcycle was attempting to pass an ATV when it turned left into the motorcycle, police said.

The motorcycle driver, a 19-year-old from Blenheim, was taken to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with serious life-threatening injuries before he was airlifted to a hospital in London. A family member told Blackburn News Monday morning that the Blenheim man's condition has significantly improved since he was transferred to London and the family is very grateful for the support from the community.

The other driver, another 19-year-old from Chatham, suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital by ambulance.

Total damage has been estimated at $10,000.

Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to contact Const. Dan Carroll at 519-355-1092 or dancar@chatham-kent.ca.
