COVID caseload climbs by three

Lambton Public Health is reporting 16 active cases of COVID-19 in Sarnia-Lambton.

The health unit said there are three more confirmed cases of the virus for a total of 274.

The number of recovered cases is unchanged at 233 and the death toll stands at 25.

According to the health unit, 56 of the total number of cases have been hospitalized.

Bluewater Health reported Friday that there are 11 patients in hospital confirmed to have the virus, while 37 are suspected of having it with tests pending.

Health officials continue to monitor an outbreak at Vision Nursing Home in Sarnia. Since April 23, 26 residents and 28 staff have tested positive for COVID-19. There have been 10 deaths related to COVID-19 among its residents.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
