UPDATE: Serious injuries reported after Hwy 401 crash in Tilbury

A 23-year-old man has been taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash happened on Highway 401 in Tilbury, which prompted police to shut down the eastbound lanes of the roadway for several hours Friday morning.

OPP said the eastbound lanes between Mill Street (Exit 56) and Queens Line (Exit 63) in Tilbury re-opened just after 11:30 a.m. Friday.

Police said the 23-year-old driver left the roadway and the vehicle rolled into the median.

There is no word yet on whether charges will be laid as the crash remains under investigation.
