27 new COVID-19 cases in Windsor-Essex

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reported 27 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, with 19 of them coming from the agri-farm sector.

To date, there are 1,290 confirmed cases of the virus in the Windsor-Essex region.

There was also a new death related to the virus reported on Saturday. The latest fatality was a man in his 70s who passed away Friday at the Windsor Regional Hospital Met Campus.

Since the pandemic began, there have been 68 COVID-19 related deaths in Windsor-Essex.

The health unit is currently monitoring two outbreaks in long-term care and retirement homes and 8 workplace outbreaks in the agriculture sector.

As of Saturday, there are 100,629 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Canada and 33,095 cases in Ontario, with 2,564 deaths.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
