Recovered COVID cases climb two

The number of recovered COVID-19 cases in Sarnia-Lambton increased by two Tuesday night in the latest update from Lambton Public Health.

The health unit is reporting 285 confirmed cases, which is unchanged since Saturday. A total of 247 people have recovered, and 25 have died, which has been unchanged since June 6.

The number of completed tests across the community eclipsed 11,000 on Tuesday -- 97.5 per cent have come back negative.

There are two active institutional outbreaks locally — one at Afton Park Place Long Term Care Community in Sarnia where one staff member has tested positive, and the other at Bluewater Health where four staff have tested positive.

Since June 15, the Sarnia hospital has not had any COVID-positive patients — there are currently 15 patients suspected of having the virus with tests pending.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
