COVID recoveries rise again, caseload unchanged since Saturday

Two more people in Sarnia-Lambton have beaten COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.

As of Wednesday night, Lambton Public Health is reporting 249 recovered cases and just 11 active cases across the community.

The health unit is still reporting 285 confirmed cases, unchanged since Saturday, while the death-toll has remained at 25 since June 6.

There are two active institutional outbreaks locally — one at Afton Park Place Long Term Care Community in Sarnia where one staff member has tested positive, and the other at Bluewater Health where four staff have tested positive.

Since June 15, the Sarnia hospital has not had any COVID-positive patients — there are currently 14 patients suspected of having the virus with tests pending.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
