Funding to help Perth County tourism businesses recover from COVID-19

Perth County is receiving a financial boost of over $153,734 in funding to help businesses recover from economic disruptions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Perth County will use the money to showcase the extensive health and safety precautions being taken as the economy reopens and rebuild trust with domestic and international travellers.

Perth County Warden Jim Aitcheson said the federal economic development funding will help mitigate damages incurred in the rural area due to COVID-19 and assist local businesses on the road to recovery.

The Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario established the FedDev Ontario Regional Relief Recovery Fund to support rural communities and small and medium-sized enterprises through the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario.

“The funds being delivered in partnership through TIAO and FedDev Ontario will equip Perth County to launch dedicated marketing campaigns to safely drive visitor activity back into local communities and support the economic recovery of local businesses in the months to come," said Perth County Tourism Officer Ashley Brockelbank.
