Man charged in cocaine bust

A 28-year-old man has been charged following a long-term investigation into drug trafficking.

Earlier this year, investigators with the Ontario Provincial Police's Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, as well as the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the Provincial Operations Intelligence Bureau, uncovered a cocaine ring that was supplying the drug to Leamington.

On June 23, search warrants were executed at two homes in the city of Windsor, according to OPP Constable Jim Root. Over one kilogram of cocaine and over three kilograms of illicit cannabis were seized. The combined street value was estimated at $225,000.

Investigators also seized a vehicle and about $200,000 in cash.

Isai Quinteros Sorto of Windsor has been charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of cocaine with the intent to sell, possession of cannabis with the intent to sell, and possession of stolen property over $5,000.

Sorto will have a chance to start defending himself against the charges in a Windsor courtroom in mid-September.
