18 new COVID-19 cases in Windsor-Essex

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reported several new COVID-19 cases on Saturday.

A total of 18 additional cases were reported, bringing the local total to 2,511. Fifteen of the latest cases are due to close contact while three cases are still under investigation.

There were also nine new cases listed as recovered on Saturday with the number of people who have recovered from the virus in the region sitting at 2,366.

There remain two workplace outbreaks in Windsor-Essex, one in the agriculture sector and one in the manufacturing sector.

Meanwhile, a retirement home in Leamington is also in an outbreak.

Provincially, 148 new cases were reported on Saturday, a 0.4 per cent increase over Friday. The number of total cases in Ontario is now at 42,083, with 38,126 of them listed as recovered.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
