After an increase in daily cases on Friday, Windsor-Essex saw only three new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday.
According to the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit, one of the latest cases is an agri-farm worker, one is a local healthcare worker and one case is community-acquired.
This comes after 21 additional cases were reported on Friday, largely due to an outbreak at a farm in Kingsville.
The total case count in the region is now at 2,713 with 50 cases listed as being active.
There are currently no Windsor-Essex retirement homes in COVID-19 outbreak and the outbreak at the Kingsville farm in the only workplace outbreak in the region.
There are also no schools in COVID-19 outbreak however, Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board reported on Friday evening that two cohorts from Stella Maris Catholic Elementary School in Amherstburg have been dismissed due to an identified exposure to COVID-19. Additionally, one cohort from St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic High School in LaSalle has also been dismissed due to an identified exposure to the virus.
Across the province, 809 new cases were reported on Saturday with 700 more resolved cases. Premier Doug Ford issued a statement on Saturday morning urging Ontarians to keep Thanksgiving gatherings small this year and limit them to members of the immediate households if possible.
