Eight additional COVID-19 cases in Windsor-Essex

Public health officials in the Windsor-area reported eight new cases of the novel coronavirus on Sunday.

According to the Windsor Essex County Health Unit, four of the cases are from close contact of a confirmed case, two are travel-related and two cases are still under investigation.

The case count in the region is now at 2,721 with 58 cases currently active. There are no COVID-19 outbreaks at schools or retirement homes in Windsor-Essex. A farm in Kingsville is currently the only workplace outbreak.

Provincially, there was a slight dip in the number of cases on Sunday with 649 new cases of the virus reported. On Saturday, the province recorded 809 cases and 939 cases on Friday.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
