Alleged drunk driver busted after speeding on rim

A Ridgetown woman faces charges after police say a driver was spotted speeding on Highway 401 with a blown tire.

According to the Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police, several reports came in around 4:41 p.m. Wednesday about a silver car speeding on the 401 in the eastbound lanes in the area of Orford Road west of Rodney. Callers told police that the car was travelling at speeds in excess of 120 kilometres per hour and was being driven on a wheel rim after the left front tire blew out.

"Police located and stopped the vehicle in the area of Wonderland Road near London, Ontario at approximately 5:13 p.m.," police said in a news release issued Friday.

A 35-year-old Ridgetown woman is charged with impaired driving, driving over the legal limit, and dangerous driving. She has a court appearance in London scheduled for December 3.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
